Until recently cyber security was given very low priority by many organisations, and in most cases it consisted simply of a checkbox if a firewall and antivirus was installed. In many of the organisations our team has worked with over the past three decades, cyber security has been highly overshadowed by other operational matters such as investment in new product development. In 2024 organisations no longer have the luxury of reducing or parking cyber security’s priority as the attacks are on their doorstep.

It is exceptional that a number of organisations have taken a strong stance on the implementation of the latest and greatest technology available. However, it is completely useless when an intruder can gain full access pretending to be an employee calling a public listed helpdesk number, and resetting a password to gain organisational access with simple details taken from the employee’s public social media account.
